The Munich-based predictive analytics startup plans to advance its B2B endeavors to meet demand

Onvy HealthTech Group has secured more than $2 million in a seed extension financing round that will fuel the expansion of its AI-based health coaching platform.

Voloridge Health, LLC led the round.

The Munich-based Onvy is in the business of precision wellness with its AI Health Coach app that integrates more than 320 wearables, environmental data, health sensors and behavioral data to make health recommendations and provide instant feedback on important metrics.

Last year, the startup was recognized by Statista and Newsweek as one of the world’s best digital health companies of 2024.

Onvy founder and CEO Adrian Kochsiek is personally invested in advancing human health prevention, sharing on LinkedIn that he’s a cancer survivor and that his experience was the driving force in creating proactive solutions, beginning with his first startup, MitoCare.

In one post on the career networking site, he noted that DNA doesn’t equate to destiny, writing, “your genes load the gun, your lifestyle pulls the trigger” – a notable phrase, as new research indicates that a range of environmental factors have a greater influence than genetics when it comes to aging and premature mortality.

“The future of health is real-time, hyper-personalized and AI-driven,” Kochsiek said. “Yet, the industry still relies on outdated, delayed and one-size-fits-all approaches. At Onvy, we are changing that. Our platform transforms raw health data into instant, tailored guidance—empowering users to take action when it matters most. With this investment, we are scaling AI-driven precision health to revolutionize how individuals and businesses engage with well-being.”

The new capital will also advance Onvy’s B2B endeavors in the “AI Health Coach-as-a-Service” realm and respond to rising demand, where corporate partners can increase customer engagement, retention and health outcomes with custom AI health solutions.

Competitive sports are also a target market for Onvy’s capabilities, where the platform can help athletes maintain peak performance, optimal recovery and mental fitness.

“AI is revolutionizing healthcare, and Onvy is at the forefront of this transformation with its cutting-edge approach to real-time health intelligence,” Voloridge Health co-founder David Vogel said. “By seamlessly bridging the gap between raw health data and real-world action, Onvy is shaping the future of precision health, setting a new benchmark for proactive, personalized health coaching. Their ability to turn complex biometric and behavioral data into meaningful, actionable insights enhances both individual well-being and corporate health strategies, delivering measurable outcomes for businesses and consumers alike. We are excited to support their journey as they scale.”

A new educational platform that has raised $31.5 million last fall aims to prepare gig workers, fitness and health coaches for new career pathways in healthcare

As health, wellness and longevity become increasingly intertwined, gyms are adding clinical components and wellness tourism hot spots are expanding their treatments and therapies to meet growing consumer interest. It’s a shift that isn’t just changing where and how people seek care—it’s also creating new opportunities in health-centric fields for trainers and health coaches who feel a calling to help others on another level.

However, for many looking to pivot into such roles, cost and lack of time remain major barriers—a challenge Stepful CEO Carl Madi has set out to solve.

“When I looked into it, I realized that most pathways are either trade schools or community colleges,” Madi tells Athletech News. “They can take up to two years and cost up to $20,000. We developed Stepful to challenge the traditional model.”

Madi knows a thing or two about working hard and crafting solutions. A Wharton grad, he’s served at several successful start-ups, including Uber.

“Stepful’s platform is designed for working adults, particularly from historically underserved communities, providing virtual instructor-led courses that include live, cohort-based learning sessions and one-on-one coaching for those looking for entry-level positions in hospitals and healthcare settings,” Madi explains. “The program’s bite-sized, asynchronous, interactive learning modules allow students to manage their studies alongside other commitments, while AI-powered feedback offers personalized support and outreach to ensure students don’t fall behind. No matter our student’s situation, we want them to know that we are there for them every step of the way and will continue to develop our platform to serve them.”

As he notes, the U.S. healthcare system is set to face a shortage of roughly 3.2 million healthcare workers by 2026, citing a projection from the American Hospital Association.

“Medical assistants, pharmacy technicians and surgical technicians are a handful of in-demand roles that are vital to the industry,” Madi adds. “Our goal is to not only address the healthcare worker shortage but to empower people with the skills and opportunities for better lives.”

Stepful offers flexible payment plans and partners with various hospitals and healthcare employers, workforce development boards, nonprofits, and government programs to help students secure funding.

“For example, military spouses can take advantage of programs like MyCAA, which covers the full tuition for eligible spouses,” Madi points out. “We’re always working to expand our partnerships and provide as many financial aid options as possible to remove barriers for our students.”

As for its long-term mission, Stepful is setting out to be the number one training provider for all of healthcare, Madi says. Last fall, the startup raised $31.5 million in a Series B.

“The team is constantly iterating on new career pathways for our students,” he adds. “This year alone, we plan to expand our programming to include programs such as Dental Assistant and Patient Care Tech.”

The educational platform has also recently developed areas of specialization, similar to a minor, where students can dive deeper into areas such as pediatrics or dermatology upon completing their certification.

“If our students aren’t successful, neither are we,” Madi says. “The specializations are another step towards making our students as job-ready as possible no matter what direction they want to go in the healthcare field.”

The women’s digital health startup has launched a new platform with health assessments, personalized care plans and integrated support for women navigating perimenopause, menopause and beyond

Coral, a women’s digital health startup, has secured $4.1 million (CAD) from a seed funding round for its new virtual care platform centered on women navigating perimenopause and menopause.

Brightspark led the round, which included participation from Diagram, The51 and angel investors.

Women navigating menopause should live their best years,” Coral co-founder and chairwoman Anna Chif said. “Yet, far too many of us unnecessarily struggle with health issues. We offer effective solutions for women to achieve optimal health by leveraging the latest validated research and best practices.”

Chif is no stranger to the preventative health space, having co-founded Dialogue, a Canadian telemedicine provider that went public in 2021 before being acquired by Sunlife Financial in 2023.

“Women navigating menopause should live their best years. Yet, far too many of us unnecessarily struggle with health issues,” Chif added. “We offer effective solutions for women to achieve optimal health by leveraging the latest validated research and best practices.”

The new platform offers women health assessments such as at-home blood testing, body composition scan analysis, in-depth health questionnaires, personalized care plans supported by medical experts, and integrated support, including access to prescriptions when necessary and lifestyle guidance.

Coral aims to solve the health impact of menopause symptoms by empowering women with accessible, personalized care,” Coral co-founder and CEO Fiona Lake Waslander said. “It integrates a medical-first approach with lifestyle behavior change support, all delivered through leading-edge technology. Our digitally-powered platform and seamless experience ensures our members feel supported and thrive during their menopause journey and beyond.”

Sophie Forest, partner at Brightspark Ventures, noted that the firm is proud to back the Coral team.

“Women’s digital health has long been underserved, and Coral is set to redefine care, improve millions of lives, and seize a massive opportunity,” Forest added.

Elsewhere in the industry, perimenopause and menopause-related programs have been recently added to Equinox Hotels and Canyon Ranch, signaling a growing trend.

Bevel has added a new angle to nutrition tracking with blood glucose integration

Bevel has just launched AI-powered nutrition tracking, allowing its app users to integrate data directly from their blood glucose monitors. The new feature comes alongside fresh funding led by venture capital firm General Catalyst and South Park Commons.

The New York-based startup says the new capital will accelerate product development and expand the user base of its health companion app.

“Our investors recognize the growing demand for proactive health solutions that go beyond traditional care,” Bevel CEO and co-founder Grey Nguyen said. “Their support allows us to continue building tools that put individuals in control of their health decisions.”

Bevel’s latest nutrition tracking feature taps into a proprietary database of over five million verified food items to ensure accurate nutrient data. With blood glucose monitoring integration, users receive a personalized nutrition score for each meal, helping them discover how their food choices impact their levels. It also offers a more comprehensive view of how nutrition choices affect other health pillars, such as sleep. Bevel is capable of identifying patterns in eating habits and link them to other health metrics, providing tailored insights.

“Nutrition is a cornerstone of health, but it’s also one of the most complex to track accurately,” Nguyen said. “With this launch, we’re making it easier for people to understand how their food choices impact their health in real-time—and how they can make better ones.”

“As we expand Bevel’s capabilities, our goal remains the same: to help people connect the dots between their actions and their health outcomes,” said Ben Yang, Bevel co-founder and CTO.

Bevel integrates with several leading blood glucose monitors, such as Dexcom and Libre.  While such devices were once reserved mainly for medical purposes, blood glucose monitoring systems have become a next-gen wearable for wellness seekers and biohackers. Dexcom and Libre are among the brands that now offer monitors over-the-counter, which has increased access to those invested in their health.

While one may think glucose monitoring systems and traditional wearables are poised to compete, there’s been collaboration already between two major players. Smart ring maker Oura received a $75 million strategic investment late last year from Dexcom. The two have teamed to integrate Dexcom’s glucose data with vital signs, sleep, stress, heart health, and activity metrics from the Oura Ring.

Longevity investor and entrepreneur Tyler Smith says you can achieve your ‘GHOAT,’ Greatest Health Of All Time, with Hundred Health. Athletech News spoke with Smith to learn more

SkySlope founder and entrepreneur Tyler Smith is officially pivoting from the real estate management software industry to the wellness and longevity space with Hundred Health, a startup that has been in stealth mode.

Smith is certainly no stranger to the sector, having invested in several longevity and wellness companies, including Function Health, Nucleus Genomics, Devoted Health and TruMe Labs. But behind the scenes, he has been quietly crafting a comprehensive health and longevity platform that promises to be a game-changer: accessible, hyper-personalized and affordable.

While details remain limited ahead of Hundred Health‘s full rollout in March, the startup reflects Smith’s firsthand health experience and his relentless pursuit of data and in improving inefficient systems.

Smith believes the company’s name reflects a “digestible number” for people striving toward better health—perhaps even surpassing 100—a stark contrast to biohacker Bryan Johnson’s ‘Don’t Die’ mantra. Securing the ‘Hundred’ trademark wasn’t easy—Smith says he flew across the world to get it.

As Skyslope’s chief, Smith was immersed in documents, numbers and financials, yet he still prioritized exercise and healthy eating. After scaling the company and selling a majority stake to Fidelity, he remained as CEO and board chair—until a wake-up call set him on a new path.

“At the time, Fidelity had a lot of interesting incentives for their executives,” Smith explains. “I was turning 39, and my wife and I were having our first child a little bit later in life. I began thinking about life a little differently, like, how old is my child when they’re driving? And how old is my daughter going to be when she’s graduating? I wanted to get into health and wanted to get in the best shape of my life.”

Smith then took a biological age test, somewhat confident that his active lifestyle and ideal weight would have proven beneficial in his results, but the test revealed he was biologically 47 years old, eight years older than his chronological age.

The results caught him off guard—he felt good and thought he looked healthy. But as many entrepreneurs are, Smith is a high-achiever—and saw the results as a challenge.

The type of person I am—when I see an opportunity to do something, I go full-on, 110%. So I hired some of the best longevity specialists and celebrity doctors, put them around me, and said, ‘What can I do?’ And we ran full diagnostics—from blood biomarkers to different wearables, to genetics, to full-body MRIs. I mean, I went through every single thing,” he says.

After a year—and thousands of dollars invested in his health—Smith says he reversed his biological age to the 30–31 range and felt like a whole new person. His transformation soon inspired others who wanted to turn back the clock and also feel at the top of their game.

The problem was the cost barrier.

Still, Smith recognized the value of having a deep understanding of the body, and with Hundred Health, he’s aiming to make those insights not only accessible but also easy to understand.

“I had more data on my businesses, I have more data, arguably, on my car than I do in my old body,” he says. “That was kind of like a big wake-up call. So that’s what we’re bringing together. We want to bring bio-data, wearables and integrations with a lot of comprehensive blood panels as well as genes, and we’re really tailoring something really unique to that individual at scale. The best part about it is like we’re doing this at a really affordable price, less than $1.50 a day.”

From what Smith could disclose, Hundred Health will include a form of testing and then generate tailored protocols for each individual, spanning pillars like nutrition, diet, lifestyle, exercise and more. The experience will live on both mobile and the web and will feature additional add-ons that will likely be shared in March ahead of Hundred Health’s official launch, he added.

“What we’ve built against some of the best out there is really eye-opening to what you could do when you have a lot of data on a person and what you’re able to really give them, and then make it wildly digestible, “he says. “And I think we’ve solved that.”.

As a successful entrepreneur, Smith believes the timing couldn’t be better. As the fitness and wellness industry is witnessing, there’s strong demand and energy from both consumers and investors for more accessible and personalized solutions, especially as frustrations mount towards traditional healthcare. Additionally, many are overwhelmed by information overload.

“I think COVID really changed people’s perception,” Smith suggests. “If you go [back] to the early COVID days, it was, ‘I have to do vaccines. I have to do what I’m told to do,’ to—fast forward to the wildest time right now—when you see what’s happening with the election and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and this huge movement of people [feeling], ‘I want to know what is going on with my body. I don’t want someone to tell me.’ And I think you’re seeing this across the board.”

The startup says its cohort consists of individuals in the 30–50 age range—those who want to understand what’s happening in their bodies on a personal level while also receiving support to achieve their “GHOAT,” as Smith puts it.

“People think of ‘GOAT’ like LeBron James or Serena Williams. To us, GOAT is G, H, O, A, T: Greatest Health of All Time,” Smith says.

Based on Hundred Health’s preliminary assessment, interested consumers are showing a 60% female and 40% male split. Smith says female members can expect a level of specialization tailored to their needs.

There’s also a corporate wellness play in development for Hundred Health, which Smith alluded to.

“We have a direct consumer play that’s quite compelling…and then you can imagine something like this at the price point that we’re at – it’s really attractive for businesses,” he says. “As you know, healthy employees are happy employees and healthy and happy employees are more productive.”

Due to the size of its waitlist, Smith says Hundred Health’s first cohort will launch toward the end of March, with new consumers gradually added each month.

“We’ve got a lot of people who I know this would serve,” he says. “And we’ve brought a price point that I think is going to be transformative for people.”

As for embarking on an entirely new direction in his career, Smith is keeping ties at Skyslope as executive chair, CEO, and his enthusiasm is apparent for the upcoming transition.

“I’m massive on change and transition. I think any entrepreneur, you’re changing all the time, whether that’s competitors, team members, employees, culture – you’re constantly changing,” Smith says. “I love change. Our bodies change daily; some of us just don’t know it, right? I’ve been very inspired again. It’s a mission-driven business for me and the team as well. We’ve got a really cool team, and everyone’s hungry. We are tenacious and we really want to help folks achieve their ‘GHOAT’, and we’re going to really push hard to make sure that’s achievable.”

Connecting athletes with other like-minded endurance enthusiasts and coaches for inspiration and networking has been missing — until now

Social networking platforms have been transformative in the modern age, and one Texas-based startup, Front Pack, has now launched its platform for endurance athletes on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

It’s a place where avid and casual athletes, experts and coaches can connect and find an accountability partner or network after building a user profile showcasing their interests. The new athlete-focused social platform comes as endurance events continue to grow in popularity, as seen with Hyrox, Ironman and Spartan Race.

Front Pack’s initial launch includes features where users can connect with local athletes, chat via personalized feeds, advanced messaging and video, use AI to connect with professionals, build spaces for clubs and teams to communicate and coordinate, find livestream educational sessions, discover and RSVP to events, access exclusive deals from brands and retailers, compete in challenges and find local or virtual coaches.

Behind the athletic social networking platform is Front Pack founder Scott Baldwin, an endurance athlete who felt that other like-minded individuals needed a way to connect online and form a community.

Baldwin launched the Front Pack newsletter at the start of the year, keeping readers informed on the running, cycling and triathlon world, featuring interviews and tips. The newsletter was a hit and led him to launch the Front Pack social networking platform.

“Sports have always been a great unifier. They teach us how to live healthier lives, build confidence, and develop long-lasting friendships,” Baldwin said. “But online authenticity is often undervalued and has eroded into a space dominated by vanity, clout and sterile interactions. Front Pack is a genuine place for any athlete to get motivated, grow, and teach. Whether you are looking to network professionally with other athletes or conquer a physical feat, we connect incredible people working towards their goals of making the impossible possible.”

Front Pack offers founding memberships for $7.99 per month until Oct. 3, before regular pricing of $9.99 per month.

Bevel’s health and fitness tracker encourages users to become the CEO of their health, but promises to go beyond a mere fitness app

Bevel, a health tech startup, has finally pulled back the curtain to reveal its holistic health and fitness tracker that provides metrics and daily targeted ranges for strain, recovery, training, sleep and stress.

The New York-based Bevel has been quietly working on its app for the past year.

“We’re excited to introduce Bevel to the public,” Bevel CEO and co-founder Grey Nguyen. “The current healthcare system is designed to cure your illnesses, not to help you stay healthy. With Bevel, we want to bring back the notion that you are in control of your own health.”

After downloading the app, Bevel connects to Apple Health and asks a few basic questions. Users can select from an annual Bevel Pro subscription ($49.99 per year) or monthly ($5.99), for the ability to unlock historical data, view advanced health metrics, track and improve biomarkers such as VO2, RHR, HRV, weight, body fat and lean body mass, log entries in the daily health journal and take advantage of the Strength Builder, which offers workout plans. It’s recommended that Bevel users wear their Apple Watch to enable continuous data recording.

“Through continuous monitoring and personalized recommendations, Bevel equips users with tools to make better daily decisions,” Nguyen said.

Bevel’s leadership team includes co-founder and CTO Ben Yang, former Dropbox CTO Aditya Agarwal, and an advisory board of scientists and athletes, including Eric Verdin, CEO and president of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, Scott Delp, professor at Stanford and director of the Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance and Olympic gold medalist (decathlon) Ashton Eaton.

“I’m excited about Bevel because, as a professional athlete and Olympian, I learned that an important factor in advancing human performance is gathering and synthesizing a holistic set of objective information about your body and lifestyle,” said Eaton. “I think this technology has the capability to do this and take us to the next level.”

While Bevel has officially gone public with its launch, the startup has developed an active community on Reddit, with Nguyen a frequent poster, sharing details of Bevel’s transformation and vision along the way.

“Personally, I didn’t want to use five different apps to track my exercise, sleep, and stress,” he explained in one post outlining the intention of Bevel. “I felt that the Apple ecosystem lacked an app that could fully utilize Apple Health and match the level of engineering that was put into the hardware of the Apple Watch.”

He wasn’t alone in his thinking, quickly amassing a waitlist of users eager to try something new and improved. But Nguyen is clear: Bevel’s goal isn’t to build another fitness app, but a system to improve longevity. The startup has been engaging users and transparent in its upcoming features, offering a view into its roadmap and encouraging users to leave feedback and suggestions.

In time, Yang said Bevel plans to go beyond providing users with comprehensive insights.

“We’re building a comprehensive health ecosystem that empowers users to be the CEO of their own health, with doctors and technology as advisors, not managers,” he said, adding that users’ data won’t leave devices without permission.
